Welcome to the world of mindset!

Welcome to a world where reaching your highest potential is closer than you ever thought. You may not have known it yet, but your mindset is a dream that you can control. Yes, with your mindset you can make every dream come true, in which you are 100% in control. I show you what choices I make every day to train my mind. Warning in advance: While reading this article, your current mindset will resist what you read. You, therefore, think that it is not possible. Don’t fall for that! Be 100% open to everything I am going to tell you and put your current mindset aside. It’s time to upgrade your mind to the high-performance level! PS There are many ways to train your mindset, so I split them into an x number of articles. More to come!

Programming your mindset

Science has discovered so much about controlling your mindset. A whole new world will open up for you if you start to study the programming of your mindset. You too can get so much more out of your current mindset if you know how to do it. No, I’m not going to tell a dull and scientific story here. I just want you to know that there are around 100 trillion neurons in our brains. You can train all of these neurons. In fact, they are moving every second. Various scientific studies show us that neurons fire together when someone is reading a book. The pronunciation that is often used is: “Neurons that fire together, wire together.” If we can simply train our brains to read a book, it can also be trained in many other ways. In order for you to not get lost in the maze of many possibilities, I will share three ways here:
  • Meditation
  • Brain programs
  • Nootropics
These all work to train your brain especially if you apply them daily.

One of the most well-known types of training the mindset is meditation. When I first came into contact with meditation years ago, I didn’t like it. I found it blurry and for people who were sitting on rugs and flying through the air. Actually a kind of Aladdin … Yet I tried and it went wrong right away. Trying is a word that you must get out of your vocabulary immediately. It is a negative word that indicates that it will probably not work. And of course, after a week I thought: “You see, it doesn’t work!” Years later, I started to focus more and more on personal development. Then I came into contact with meditation again. This time I opened myself completely. I started doing it (so didn’t try) and gave myself at least 1 month to experience the effect. Almost nothing happened in the first week. After the second week, I noticed that I became more relaxed. I was also much more positive about life and I was less and less concerned about the situations around me. And after three weeks I could not start my morning without meditation anymore. Now I meditate twice a day. Sometimes I stop for a week to experience the difference between meditating and not meditating. The difference between meditating and not meditating? Meditating makes me feel more relaxed in life. I am much less stressed (maybe 5%?), I see the positive in most things. I sleep deeper and feel happier, more successful and more satisfied. Without meditation a lot of things make me grumpy, I sleep poorly and I’m not feeling well. Have I convinced you yet?

What exactly does meditation do?

Meditation is a process by which you train your mind to concentrate in the now. It is the best way to be present in the “now”. The more often you do it, the easier and faster you will reach the state of the “now”. The special thing about meditation is that you can also do it while walking and playing games. Yes gamers, I’m talking about gaming on the computer, PlayStation or whatever! In addition, people also use meditation to develop other useful habits and feelings. You can think of a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even increased pain tolerance. According to research, meditation also helps with the following long list of positive effects:
  • Increase your gray matter
  • Cultivating willpower
  • Building focus and concentration
  • Increase cognitive function
  • Reduce depression
  • Mental change of the brain
  • Relieve stress and anxiety
  • Helps you sleep better and deeper
  • Reduces pain
  • Boost your immune system and lower blood pressure
  • Relieves inflammation
  • Reduces heart risks
  • Reduces loneliness
  • Promotes a healthy body image
  • Builds up self-knowledge
  • Increase compassion
  • Improves empathy
  • Helps with relationship satisfaction
In short, meditation has a lot of positive effects. Why wait? Start meditating today. To make this easier, follow my personal meditation advice below. Integrate meditation into your daily routine Meditation works best if you do it daily. Put fixed meditation moments in your agenda. Start your day with a clean slate. Therefore choose to meditate in the morning. The same applies to the evening. Always end your day with meditation because: The thoughts that you go to bed with in the evening are the thoughts (positive or negative) that you get up with the next day. I even have meditative music on during my sleep. I have small earplugs that don’t t disturb me when sleeping. For me, night meditation works so well that I can’t live without it anymore. Make sure you meditate in a place where nobody distracts you, including your dog or cat. I have first-hand experience with this! Our puppy is very happy to wake me up with his big paws in my face when I was in a deep meditation LOL. As a beginner in the field of meditation, accept that there is a good chance that thousands of thoughts will come through your mind. That’s okay! Don’t worry about it. See the thoughts come by and let them go again immediately. Being able to meditate properly requires time. You will see that your mind becomes calmer step by step, fewer thoughts go by and how it positively influences your state of mind. So don’t give up within a few weeks. Just keep on going! You can do it and before you know it you will be completely zen within a few seconds and in the ‘now’. Guided meditation I am a great advocate of guided meditation and meditation through subliminal messages. You can read about subliminal messages under brain programs. For guided meditations, you have a large choice of mobile apps and programs that you can use. I have prepared a list especially for you: click here to get this list

Brain Programs

Do you remember? Neurons that fire together, wire together. How cool would it be if you trained your brain by listening to something? By this I mean simply that you can train your brain while sleeping, exercising, working, relaxing or at any other crazy moment that comes to mind. (Yes, sex may also be possible, but not recommended!) Anytime is possible with brain programs. Yes, it works! I was sceptical, but I do like an experiment so I took on the challenge of investing in a brain program. Not good and you got your money back, so I made the choice quickly LOL.

What does a brain program do?

In an article about the paradigm, I already wrote that we consist of a consciousness, subconscious mind and body. Brain programs focus on communicating with our subconscious mind. This is often done on the basis of subliminal messages. FYI: A subliminal message is a signal or message hidden in a medium and is meant to be passed on without being consciously noticed. Our subconscious mind processes these messages. The more often we hear these messages, the more we take action. A brain program is a medium for a subliminal message. Coca Cola already used subliminal messages many years ago. In 1957, an advertising man, James Vicary, claimed that he could increase the sales of movie theatre concessions by flashing messages such as “Drink Coca Cola” or “Eat Popcorn” through a frame during a movie. Vicary claimed that popcorn sales in the theatre increased by 18%, while Coca Cola sales increased by 57%. Talk about the power of subliminal messages! You are totally unaware of these messages and therefore cannot dispute, assess or block them! During the brain programs, your mind relaxes in increased receptivity, allowing positive messages to flow into your subconscious mind without the disruption of limiting beliefs. I listen to the various brain programs that I follow every day. Through this continuous repetition, my subconscious mind absorbs the subliminal messages or it accepts them and this is reflected in my positive behaviour and belief system. Yes, a whole mouth full! But I can tell you …: IT WORKS! How can you use the brain program daily? There are different programs, each with their own use and purpose. There are brain programs that work when you listen to them when you sleep and there are programs that function better when you are awake. The goals can also differ. Think for example of success goals, the removal of negative thoughts and stress to influence your money mindset. Therefore, always check carefully which brain program suits you best. For an overview of the brain programs that I heartily recommend: click here to get this list I like to use my time as productively as possible. That’s why I combine it with activities so that I don’t sit on the couch for 40 minutes and do nothing. My advice is to do the brain programs that require you to be awake during your workout. So no heavy metal, but work on your brain!

What if the “red and blue Matrix pills” were a reality? No, unfortunately, that is not going to happen! Yet there is a way to train your brain and with nootropics! Nootropics are smart drugs that consist of natural or synthetic substances that can be taken to improve your mental Focus. Nootropics are becoming increasingly popular and they are usually used to stimulate memory, focus, creativity, intelligence and motivation. I have been using nootropics since 2016 and I can tell you … IT WORKS! Of course it works, otherwise, I would not write about it here. There are many people who are sceptical about this and often refer to the placebo effect. As a high-performance coach I have only one thing to say about it: try it out for yourself.

What do nootropics do exactly?

Nootropics improve cognitive functions and every nootropic has its own effects. I am a great advocate of nootropics that actually promote my general health. No, I am not talking about amphetamines, because that is simply DOM and extremely harmful to your health. Below I describe one of my favourite nootropics, I show you what it consists of and what the effects are of the various ingredients. Good to know: don’t just accept my word. Always do your own research because I am not a doctor – I am simply sharing what works for me and want it to work for you too.

Alright, grit your teeth for a moment because we are going through some ‘dull material’.

The ingredients of my nootropic

Citicoline: Nourishes and improves mental performance without the crash of stimulants. Cognizin® Citicoline has been demonstrated in human research to promote mood, memory, attention, focus and concentration. In the long term, it can help maintain healthy brain function against age-related structural changes and mental decline. Phosphatidylserine: Can sharpen memory, slow cognitive decline and promote a positive outlook. It has proven promising for helping elderly people with brain degeneration, slowing the progression of memory loss while helping with mood, anxiety, socialization and mental clarity. As a result, PS is the only nootropic with an FDA-qualified claim for reducing the risk of cognitive decline. Bacopa Monnieri: Has strong links with memory performance and a long association with new learning and retention. Human studies have shown that Bacopa can slow down the speed of forgetting newly acquired knowledge. Researchers have also suggested that it can speed up mental processing, optimize cognition under stress, and promote relaxation. Lion’s Mane Mushroom: A double-blind, placebo-controlled study linked Lion’s Mane Mushroom to significant cognitive improvements in adults aged 50-80 with mild cognitive impairment. Clinical trial researchers have also suggested that Lion’s Mane can help keep the mood in balance. Maritime Pine Bark Extract: Proanthocyanidin compounds from pine bark extract are proposed to improve mental energy, attention, learning and short-term focus; and preserve memory, mental clarity and brain health in later years. L-Tyrosine: Human clinical studies have suggested that L-Tyrosine can help promote working memory under multitasking conditions and optimize mental performance under high stress, fatigue and lack of sleep. In addition to its reputation as a nootropic for maintaining mental performance under stress, L-Tyrosine has recently attracted attention as attention and focus-oriented nootropic. L-Theanine: Can instil a state of controlled, relaxed calm and at the same time sharpen attention, alertness and focus. It is used for studying, new learning, creative problem solving, art or other tasks that require quiet contemplation. L-Theanine also helps to reduce the nervous side effects of caffeine. Rhodiola Rosea: As a herbal adaptogen, Rhodiola helps to strengthen resistance to mental and physical stress while supporting brain energy – promoting clear, calm thinking under harsh conditions. Rhodiola is traditionally used to improve mental processing, memory, learning, attention span, mood and work capacity. It also gained fame as a legal performance enhancer among Russian Olympic biathletes and powerlifters. Focus on various activities As you can see, the various ingredients focus on activities such as:
  • Brain Chemistry: Optimize memory, processing speed, mood, attention, motivation and more.
  • Brain Energy: Makes brain fog and fatigue disappear, to support mental agility, quick thinking and focus.
  • Brain regeneration: Restores, maintains and nourishes brain cells for plasticity and healthy growth.
  • Brain circulation: Helps oxygen in the brain to remove toxins and improve the release of neuro-nutrients
  • Brain protection: Fights toxins and unhealthy structural changes that affect the brain over time.
  • Brainwaves: Alpha frequency promotes calm alertness for creativity, productivity and learning.
Whether you should believe all this? That is entirely up to you. I can tell you from my own perspective that it works for me. Once again …, placebo or not: nootropics help me focus better during my activities. While writing this article I also took my favourite nootropic with the above ingredients. I can describe it as having a tunnel vision where I let myself be completely absorbed in the moment and where the words simply come from my head to the screen through my hands. My thinking capacity is also increasing and I notice this simply because of my creativity that gets a boost. When I am busy optimizing advertising campaigns, I have to dive into the many figures. I stay calm and focused and I can optimize the campaigns with my thinking. In short, nootropics help me with:
  • Better focus;
  • Be more creative;
  • Stay calm;
  • High in energy;
  • Improving my thinking capacity in the longer term.
Is nootropics something for you? That depends on how you look at life. My number 1 advice: first focus on your overall health. Recommendation 2: do not take nootropics if you are unable to focus properly at this moment, if you are not yet high in energy or if you have emotional problems or something similar. Supplements such as these are fun, but you should always start with yourself first. First, make sure that you are 100% healthy before you start experimenting with nootropics.

When you are 100% healthy and ready to experiment with a nootropic, you can find my favourite nootropic via this link: click here to get this list

Disclaimer once again: I am not a doctor and therefore accepting my “advice” is entirely at your own risk.

How do you make the best use of nootropics on a daily basis?

Make it part of your morning ritual. I take my nootropics in the morning in combination with my coffee and MCT oil (more about MCTs later). What not to do:
  • Use nootropics in the evening.
  • Take it twice a day. I only do it in the morning and that is enough to make the whole day pop!
  •  Only take them on workdays so that your body doesn’t get 100% used to it.
